HOUSE RULES THE OLDE SIGNORIE
Welcome to our house!
The Olde Signorie is located in a historic residence dating from 1710, right in the heart of the beautiful centre of Leeuwarden. We live here ourselves and find it special to share a part of our home with our guests. To keep the stay pleasant, safe and relaxed for everyone, we have drawn up a number of house rules. No complicated conditions, just clear agreements.
Arrival and departure
Your salon is available from 3:00 PM on the day of arrival. Thanks to the self-access, you can check in at any time from then on. On the day of departure, we ask you to check out by 11:00 AM at the latest. These times cannot be deviated from. When you leave, hang the room key with the corresponding access tag on the outside of your salon door, in the lock. Take a good look around before you leave. Chargers in particular tend to get left behind in our power sockets! If you've forgotten something, no problem, we'll happily send it to you. You will receive a payment request for the shipping costs. In case of early departure, there is no automatic right to a refund. The applicable booking conditions remain the guiding principle.
2. Rest and take account of each other
Our house has been standing since 1710. This gives it character, but also means it can be a bit noisy at times. Moreover, you stay right in the historic city center, where the sounds of city life can sometimes be heard. We live in the building ourselves and like to take into account our guests. We appreciate the same consideration in return, of course. Between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM, we therefore try to keep as much noise down as possible. Parties, gatherings, and other activities that cause nuisance are not allowed.
3. Your salon and our private rooms
Your salon is entirely your own space during your stay. We kindly ask you to treat the interior, amenities, and the historic character of the building with care. The Olde Signorie is designed for adult guests. Only individuals registered at the time of reservation are permitted access to the accommodation. Visits from third parties are not allowed. A part of the building and the entire garden are our private areas and are not accessible to guests. Starting from January 1, 2027, guests will primarily use the front door as the main entrance and exit. Access via the rear is only possible when coordinated with us in advance.
4. Comfort and amenities
Each salon has its own bathroom, mini-fridge, safe, and individually adjustable air conditioning that allows you to cool, heat, ventilate, and dehumidify. You can also open a window for fresh outdoor air. Please note that this may make sounds from the city audible. Our salons are fully electric. Both heating and hot shower water are provided without gas. The windows are fitted with HR++ insulation glass. This way, we combine the character of our centuries-old building with modern comfort.
5. Cleaning and maintenance
We carefully clean the salons between reservations. During your stay, no standard intermediate cleaning or change of bedding and towels takes place. For longer stays, we can make arrangements about this. In the central hall, there is a laundry basket for used towels and bath mats. Even if they are still soaking wet, they can be placed in there. We will take care of the laundry and keep the salons clean and dry. We ask you to dispose of your waste in the designated waste bins and to leave your salon tidy.
6. Our shared pantry
In the central hall, you'll find our shared pantry, which you can use day and night. Here you will find a large fridge for your own groceries, a microwave, a coffee bean machine, and a selection of loose-leaf tea. You will also find plates, bowls, glasses, and cutlery. Coffee made from freshly ground beans and loose-leaf tea are available to you in unlimited quantities during your stay. Feel free to take something nice with you to your own salon! You can leave used dishes in the pantry. We'll do the dishes and keep everything neat and clean. There is no full kitchen or cooking facilities available. You are welcome to bring your own meals and drinks. If you have something delivered, please pick up your order at the entrance downstairs. We do not serve breakfast, but there are plenty of cozy places in the immediate area to start your day off right. We'd be happy to share our favorite spots with you!
7. Smoking, pets and safety
The Olde Signorie is completely non-smoking. Smoking and vaping are not allowed in the building, at the entrance or in the alley. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets. For safety reasons, candles with a real flame, incense and other open fires are not permitted. Battery-powered candles are, of course, allowed. Be careful with electrical equipment and chargers. Use only suitable and undamaged chargers and do not leave batteries unattended or charging while you sleep. Electric bike batteries may be taken to the salon, provided they are stored and used safely. Keep passages clear and close the doors carefully when you leave the house. If you notice anything unusual or unsafe, please let us know immediately. In case of immediate danger, call 112.
8. Keys, Personal Property, and Damage
Handle the room key and the corresponding access tag with care. In case of loss, we may charge the actual costs for replacement and any necessary adjustment of the access, insofar as these are reasonable and attributable to the loss. Each salon has its own locker where you can store valuable items. We advise you to use this and not to leave personal belongings unattended. The Olde Signorie is not liable for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings, unless the damage is legally at our expense. Your statutory rights remain unaffected. If something breaks or damage occurs unexpectedly? Please let us know as soon as possible. Accidents can happen. Damage for which a guest is legally liable may be charged.
9. Parking, luggage and bicycles
Until January 1, 2027, guests can make use of the available parking spaces on-site. From that date onwards, regular parking in our garden will no longer be possible. You can find various public parking garages in the immediate vicinity. Just dropping off your luggage? No problem! Navigate to Blokhuisplein 14. You will then arrive at the side of our house. Between the two large lampposts, you can, as far as traffic rules and the situation on-site allow, briefly stop to unload your luggage. Turn on your hazard lights and then move your car directly to a parking garage. Leaving luggage before check-in or after check-out is only possible by arrangement. For fully electric cars, we offer a temporary charging option on-site upon request. Your car can stay here while charging. Once charging is complete, we ask that you move your car. Charging incurs a separate commercial fee, and you will need a suitable charging card or tag. From January 1, 2027, we will have a locked, non-covered bike shed in the alley. There is also a charging option for electric bikes here. We do not rent out bikes ourselves, but we would be happy to direct you to nearby rental providers.
10. Questions, complaints and issues
Is something not to your liking, does a facility not work, or do you have any questions? Please let us know as soon as possible during your stay, preferably via WhatsApp. There's really no need to hesitate! This gives us the opportunity to take a look and find a solution where possible. In case of urgent problems, you can reach us by phone. We handle complaints carefully and within a reasonable time.
11. Compliance with the house rules
We expect everyone to treat each other with respect and kindness. When house rules are seriously violated, we may warn a guest and ask them to adjust their behavior. If that is not sufficient, we may terminate the stay, insofar as circumstances and the law permit. In serious situations where the safety of individuals or the property is directly threatened, we may intervene without prior warning and, if necessary, terminate the stay.
Finally
The Olde Signorie is our home and for a while also yours. With a little attention to each other, we keep it pleasant for everyone. Enjoy the character of our centuries-old house, the freedom of your own salon, and everything Leeuwarden has to offer. Need something? Feel free to send us a message. We're happy to help!
Warm regards,
The Old Signory
